In past years, I always only thought about the amazing food I was going to stuff my face with on Thanksgiving Day. Although, my grandmother’s turkey is always nice and dry, the rest of the food was superb. The dressing, the pies, all of the good stuff.
This year I won’t be able to eat any of the food, because I am getting my wisdom teeth cut out. Because of this little dilemma, I haven’t been thinking about all of the food I will eat. Instead, I have thought about my family. There has been some tension in my family, and my mom, aunts, and uncles refused to speak to each other. Well, this just wasn’t acceptable to me. If I can’t have food, then you better believe I am going to have my family!
I set out on a mission. I had to speak to everyone that was a part of this whole fiasco, and make them want to find a solution. I thought my mom would be the easiest target, because, of course, she hates to see her little girl upset. Boy was I wrong! She was the most stubborn, and the last to jump on board. After much pleading with her, she talked to her brothers, and they fixed everything!
Everyone talks about how thankful they are whenever Thanksgiving rolls around, and I am honestly thankful for getting my wisdom teeth cut out during Thanksgiving. I will be surrounded by my whole family for the first time in over a year, and I couldn’t ask for anything better. I think it is time that everyone forgets about that big turkey, and consider the things, and people, that will be around for the rest of the year when the turkey is gone.
