On March 30, 2020 the Brenau Office of Academic Affairs announced that there will be a commencement ceremony for the senior class. Once the Brenau campus is allowed to re-open there will be commencement ceremony, which could be around May or June. This means for seniors they will no longer have to wait until August- the estimated date for graduation- for the biggest moment of their college career. Coronavirus Unveiling Deeply Rooted Racism
Since the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, it has unveiled racial disparity around the world. In America, xenophobic attacks have ensued toawrds Asian, specfically Chinese, communities. These attacks began based on the assumption that the Coronavirus had begun in China. While researchers are still working on finding out the origins of the virus, racial tensions around the world are rising. America isn’t the only country currently experiencing cases of xenophobia and racial inequality, but it is happening in China as well. It has been reported that there has been prejudice treatment of Africans in China and here is why.
How College Students are handling the stress of COVID-19
Before, Kemp issued a statewide quarantine, many people were already socially distancing and self-quarantining. This is due to many people being aware, before Kemp’s address, that COVID-19 can be spread by asymptomatic people. Now that Kemp has forced non-essential workers to return home it has caused a great deal of stress for college students.
LaTonya Boston, winner of Brenau’s Got Talent 2020
Winning a talent show can teach the importance of continuing to pursue your passions. This past Saturday at Brenau’s Winter Weekend LaTonya Boston tapped her way to 1st place at Brenau’s Got Talent. She won the grand prize of $750.00. Boston is a sophomore dance major and was an elite member of the NoFilterSoulTalk teen group founded by Syncopated Ladies, an Emmy nominated dance troupe. Her year with Syncopated Ladies gave her the talented ability to beat her fierce competitors at BGT, whom some are also professional dancers.
