(Gainesville, GA) The Brenau basketball team had two wins this past week. The ladies defeated Tennessee Wesleyan this past Tuesday and Faulkner University on Thursday. Tennessee Wesleyan was a non-conference game and several players for the lady tigers had outstanding games. Briah Woods scored a career-high 20 points and 13 rebounds; Autumn Dodson had 12 points and was 5-5 shooting from the field. The Freshman Kaylyn Brooks came off the bench to give the Tigers 7 points as they captured their 12th win of the year. Defense forced Tennessee Wesleyan to have a poor shooting night. Their poor shooting led to a victory for the tigers with a final score of 65-56.
Two days later, the Golden Tigers had a must win conference game against Faulkner University. An aggressive first quarter for both teams made a close game, but by the second quarter the Brenau defense held the Faulkner Eagles scoreless for the last 4:37. After the half, the Tigers led by as many as 15 points but the Eagles did not give up. The game came down to the last second as Brenau stepped up their defense and held the Eagles off for the win 73-66. Kalin Williams led the Tigers with 17 points and 6 rebounds while Woods got her second consecutive double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Dodson, the SSAC leader in three point percentage, gave the Golden Tigers 14. A great all around team effort this week.
