(Gainesville GA)The Brenau Golden Tigers basketball team met the Brewton Parker College at the home gym of the Brenau University on Tuesday, Jan.29. Last week, the Golden Tigers won the close game at the Truett-McConnell College with the final score of 81-75 and now were ready to achieve another victory.
Before the game started, senior Nikki Reed was awarded in honor of 1000 points she gained for the Golden Tigers team. Thereafter, the teams were ready and starters came to the centre circle to fight for the jump ball.
The first half of the game was hold with the stiff rivalry. Both teams did not want to give each other advantage in the score and paid more attention to the defense. It resulted in the score of 30-27 in favor of the Golden Tigers before the second period.
The second half of the game was completely different. The Golden Tigers’ guards started with a great shooting from the three-point line and the posts were more aggressive on the rebounds. It helped the Golden Tigers to lead the game with the 10 point difference until the end.
Brenau shot with a 58% in the second half and 46% for the game, while Brewton Parker had 40% overall. At the end, the Brewton Parker team attempted to cut the difference by full court press. However, the Golden Tigers coped with the pressure and won the game with the final score of 67-57.
