(GAINESVILLE, Ga.) Brenau University held its annual Winter Weekend event Saturday, Feb. 2. It was estimated 400 guests attended the event and stayed overnight on Brenau campus untill Sunday.
Winter weekend invited high school seniors who are potential Brenau students and their families to be engaged in campuswide activities including academic showcases, executive reception, Greek house tours and the 2013 Miss Brenau Competition.
Students staying overnight were assigned to Brenau freshmen halls and sorority houses such.
Checkin started at the Burd Center of Performing Arts while the Brenau student recruiting team, Golden Stars, helped students with their luggage, name tags and information handouts.
The highlight of the weekend was the Miss Brenau Competition. It had full attendance on both floors at the Pearce Auditorium. It is a scholarship competition with contestants judged on their essay, interview, talent and onstage presentation. Dayle Lane was crowned as Miss Brenau 2013.
The Saturday night event ended with a slumber party at the Fitness Center from 8:30 to 10:30. It included cupcakes, popcorn, cotton candy, fortune teller and photo booth.
“I was so tired … and happy!” Tamara English, director of Resident life, said during
the slumber party. The whole event closed on Sunday with a complimentary brunch for prospective
students and parents at the Hopkins Dining Hall while the Admissions office opened at noon.
