(Atlanta, GA) – “Blackfish” is a story of a killer whale named Tilikum. It was first premiered January 2013 at the Sundance Film Festival.
It focuses on the orca, Tilikum and the overall dangers of keeping his species in captivity. It follows the story of how Tilikum killed three trainers within the past 10 years, yet nothing has been done to stop this from occurring again.
The movie includes multiple interviews with past trainers, and you can really tell how they have been traumatized by their experiences working during these incidences.
“Blackfish” really makes you feel sympathy towards the whales because of how psychologically tortured they have been. You also feel sorrow for the trainers, and all the lives lost and injuries that have occurred because of the whales.
Overall, this documentary has caused uproar with SeaWorld, putting a horrible image on a company. It created a lot of controversy and I definitely suggest people to check “Blackfish” out themselves!
