Southern Snow

The South is known for its weather and like any other region, it can experience unpredictable seasons. Only two months into 2014, the South has now experience 2 snow storms that put everything to a stand still.

The first storm that hit the South hit mid day and caught many people off guard. Thousands were stuck on interstates and highways. For most people they were faced with a commute home that took close to 16 hours. School buses full of children became stranded in attempts to get them home. In some counties the children, faculty and staff had to stay the night at the schools.

When communities go through crises, they come together. Hours after thousands and thousands of motorist became stranded, people started helping one another. Those lucky enough to be close to home decided to help those in need. Hot meals, water, blankets and even places to stay were being offered. This is a great example of  Southern Hospitality at its finest.

The second snow storm, that is still reeking havoc on the roads, came with plenty of warning. Learning from the mistakes from the first snow storm, motorist stayed away form the roads. This storm blanketed the South with close to 8 inches of snow.

What makes the South the South is that simple fact that it can be a blizzard one day and 3 days later the temperature will be 67 degrees.
