(GAINESVILLE, GA) The anticipation for this year’s informal convocation is over. Dr. Dobkins is hosting the second annual informal convocation for the Women’s College entitled, “Grrrl PowHer Hour” on Thursday, Oct. 29 at 12:30 p.m. All attendees are asked to wear pink or purple to support National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Women’s Health Month, and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Look forward to several performances from the student body, including Tau Sigma Dance Fraternity and the 2014 winner of Brenau’s Got Talent Amanda Washington. Also, Look forward to the dynamic guest speaker Lindsey Nelson,VP of Global Sales & Talent Development at Careerbuilder.
Last year, Dr. Dobkins presented the Women’s College with Grrrl Power Hour, the first informal convocation. The powerful program sparked conversations all over campus and motivated the entire student body. On Thursday, the entire student body of the Women’s College will fill Pearce Auditorium to take a break from classes to motivate and be inspired by one another. Aside from the honorary guest speaker, expect to hear astounding speeches from the SGA President and the Senior Class President.
Along with energetic performances from Tau Sigma Dance Fraternity and Amanda Washington, prepare to be blown away by artistic performances from the Brenau Drumline and the Vocal Chamber Ensemble. As a special treat to attendees, the winner of last years Creativity Contest Cody Otero will be performing his rendition of the Brenau Ideal.
The speaker of the hour is sure to spark a creative energy inside the auditorium. Lindsey Nelson is expected to uplift the Women’s College with her message entitled, “Be the President of You.”
Dr. Dobkins is thrilled to present this program to the Women’s College to encourage everyone to continue to work hard and pursue their dreams. Dobkins stated, “It’s a lot of work, but I want it to be really good and meaningful for people.” This program takes a moment to unite women from different races, backgrounds, and future aspirations to support one another. “I have devoted a lot of my professional career to the advancement of all Brenau women. Hopefully it will inspire us to keep going.”
The momentum has built up since the resolution of last years program. You can’t miss out on all of the excitement that awaits. Let’s band together as women. Together we can conquer the world.
