Rihanna has said she will stand behind Chris Brown on his Nov. 1 court date for probation hearing after failing a drug test in Virginia in June.
Brown is on parole for assaulting his then-girlfriend Rihanna on the evening before the Grammies in 2009. Injuries to Rihanna during the assault include a black eye and a bruised lip.
The singers have raised many eyebrows with duets, interviews, romantic gestures toward each other and tattoos. Fans were shocked when Rihanna featured Brown in the remix of her song “Birthday Cake” and when she appeared in Brown’s song “Turn up the Music.”
Rihanna opened up to Oprah Winfrey about the assault and how she felt during the time following. “It was embarrassing. It was humiliating,” Rihanna told Winfrey, “I lost my best friend.” Rihanna also admitted she was in a dark place after the assault. “I was resentful. I held a grudge. I was dark,” she confessed.
What really surprised fans was when she openly admitted she still loved Brown and they remained “very close friends.” She continued, “We built a trust again and that’s it. We love each other and we probably always will,” she said while crying.
So it comes as no surprise that Rihanna is more than ready to defend her friend in the eye of a possible probation violation.
According to RadarOnline, Rihanna told Brown she would appear in court and tell the judge ruling over the domestic violence case against Brown, Judge Patricia Shnegg, that she shouldn’t set a hearing to decide if he violated terms of his probation because he has accepted responsibility for his actions and has apologized multiple occasions.
