Brenau University and the City of Gainesville will continue to celebrate Latino-Hispanic Heritage Month until Oct., 15. The theme for this year is “Pioneers of Change: Shaping the Future Together.” Brenau will continue to showcase an exhibition, Unbrainwashable by Cuban artist, Alexi Torres until November 9 in the Leo Castelli Galleries located in the John S. Burd Center of Performing Arts.
Monday, Sept. 23
The You Live and You Learn series will begin with a conversation about self-care with Rev. Andrea Corso Johnson, Brenau’s non-denominational university chaplain. The event, Mindfulness and Spirituality will be held in the Crudup/Van Hoose lounge at 6:30 p.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 24
The Brenau volleyball team will compete against Columbia College at 6:30 p.m. in the Schrader Fitness Center. Immediately following will be the annual pep rally to celebrate Brenau’s student athletes. There will be prizes and performances by the Tau Sigma Fraternity Dance Team and the Competition Cheer Team.
Student Development and Engagement will host Hazing Prevention Education in the Yonah Lobby from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Tri Delta will host a Movie Night from 6 p.m. in the living room of the Tri Delta House.
Wednesday, Sept. 25
Alpha Gamma Delta will host Empty Bowl painting for the Hunger Action Month campaign from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Alpha Gamma Delta House.
Thursday, Sept. 26
join Brenau’s Physical Therapy Department and the Campus Connections Committee on a walk to save lives at the 2024 Hall County Heart Walk through the American Heart Association at the Midland Greenway located on 682 Grove St. Check in will begin at 5:30 p.m. You can register or donate without walking using this link.
Students can meet Benzene “Benny,” Brenau’s resident ball python from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. in room 13 of the Science Building.
Friday, Sept. 27
The Resident Assistants at Brenau will host an event, Attract Success with Vision Board, in the Van Hoose Lounge at 4 p.m. Other resident hall events include El cine at New Hall in their lounge from 7 p.m.
The Admissions Office will host a Hispanic Parents Workshop: The Path to College, to guide all interested in the application process and scholarship opportunities at Brenau University. The event will start at 6 p.m. at the Banks Recital Hall on 429 Academy St. The presentation will be available in Spanish. For more information contact: ude.uanerb@snoissimda.
Saturday, Sept. 28
The Hispanic Alliance Georgia – La Alianza will host their 6th annual Latino Fest at the Midland Greenway from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. It will be a celebration of Latino culture, art, music, and food. More information about the map and the sponsors participating can be found on their website.
Sunday, Sept. 29
Join the Alumni Engagement Department at the Hank Aaron Terrace for a Braves game against the Kansas City Royals from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. The tickets are $85 and include a shared indoor/outdoor hospitality area in left field, buffet through the turn, and cash bar. Brenau Alumni Braves T-shirts and hats available for purchase.
