Deutsche Telekom, the company over T-Mobile, announced on Wed., Oct. 4, 2012 that T-Mobile and MetroPCS would be merging. Both companies will remain separate stores as they are now, but they will be owned by the same company.
The plan is for MetroPCS and T-Mobile to continue offering the same services they now offer except they will both offer no contract and prepaid plans. T-Mobile will offer most of the contract phones and plans.
It is estimated that by the end of 2013, the merge will officially take place. So by 2014, T-Mobile and MetroPCS will each run by itself while being overseen and owned by Deutsche Telekom.
This change is expected to improve the quality of phone service with T-Mobile and Metro PCS. It will also take away some of the competition between the phone companies and service offered.
T-Mobile and MetroPCS will continue to be top cell phone carriers. Now that they can depend on each other for business, it will surely improve and grow.
