537330_10152505189685014_648881408_n(Gainesville, GA) – Each year, Brenau University hosts its Miss Brenau Competition during Winter

Weekend on the first weekend of February. The competition is hosted in Brenau’s Pearce Auditorium and the winner is awarded with a scholarship of $3000 for their sophomore year.

The contestants must all be fulltime freshman with a GPA of atleast 2.5. This year’s contestants were Ensely Caldwell, Stephanie Daniell, Paris Hawkins, Deishane Honeycutt, Sara Hostetler, Kara Keen, Dayle Lane, and Sharonna Ray.

They each had to write an essay on a specific topic, conduct a personal interview with the judges, and perform a talent for the audience at the actual competition.

For the two competition nights, I had to run the teleprompter. The previous week, I sat in and practiced with the girls, and really got to know them at a personal level. Each of the girls was wonderful and honestly, I thought the competition was very close and anyone could have won.

The actual performance night went extremely well. The hosts, Eleanor Kahn and Tracey Vaden Moore, did an incredible job and really kept the audience involved. I hope they come back next year!

In the end, Dayle Lane took home the crown and the title of the 75th Miss Brenau Competition.
