Here at Brenau, student government and other governmental organizations, are almost the equivalent of the national government.

With that being said,  Student Government Association, or SGA,  just had their annual elections, to choose next years leaders on campus. This is very important to the students of Brenau, because SGA is the liaison between the administration and the students.

When voting on members of SGA, Brenau students keep these things in mind:

  1. Reliability

  2. Responsibility

  3. Integrity

  4. Dedication

Jessica Anderson, the new President of SGA, answered the following questions for me and the students of Brenau, by explaining what she has planned for the next year.

Q: What made you want to run for this office?

A: I have been in SGA since I got here, I was a senator my freshman year. I have been president of my class, and a senator every year since . I have seen SGA bloom into something that I want to have a big impact in, and I just want to see it bloom like that to other people. I want everyone to be involved. It is such an important organization, everyone should want to be a part of it!

Q: Jessica, what exactly do you have planned to further the experience and the opinions of the students of Brenau, next year?

A: The most important thing is, is that everyone is a part of the student government. We need to get people out there and coming to ALL senate meetings, to really let their opinions be heard, so that there is a greater number of people behind an issue, so the administration will see how important these opinions are to us. Everyone in the Women’s College is a part of this organization, and should be heard, which is what I plan to do.

Q: How does it feel that your peers voted you for such an impactful office?

A: I am on cloud nine! It is crazy that they entrusted me with such an important position. Its amazing that they have seen me put in countless hours of work towards Brenau, and really believe that I deserve this position. My executive board is on point, and I am so excited to start working with them! I cannot WAIT to get started with this! Look out for big things, Brenau!

Well, there you have it folks. Brenau students have spoken, and have received the most trustworthy and well-suited President and executive board to continue on the path of extraordinary hard work and excellence.

“To find joy is doing rather than in dreaming,” a line from our own Brenau Ideal, should be SGA’s motto next year, because I know they will be upholding that.
