All of the sororities on Brenau’s campus hold philanthropy events throughout the year to benefit their philanthropies. Since 2011, Tri Delta has hosted a softball tournament benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, which is their national philanthropy. At the time, the philanthropy chair saw how successful the softball tournaments were for other Tri Delta chapters so she decided to bring it here to Brenau. Four years later, the Tri Delta Triple Play is one of the main philanthropy events that Tri Delta hosts.

Each winter the current Philanthropy Chairman will begin the preparing for the tournament. There are a lot of components that go into having a successful philanthropy event. For the softball tournament, it is necessary to find find teams and sponsors. as a result of the strong Greek unity at Brenau, other sororities on campus will usually make a team to enter in the tournament. At the second annual softball tournament in 2012, country singer Brantley Gilbert played on a team.

The tournament itself is a great time to spend with with your sisters, family and friends. The tournament itself can get pretty competitive but it is all in good fun. This year the Tri Delta Triple Play will take place at Lamar Murphy Park in Jefferson, Ga., on Saturday April 5th. For more information about the tournament look for the Tri Delta Triple Play 2014 on Facebook.
