(Gainesville, Ga.) – Stars have been permanently altering their images for decades. From minor procedures like changing their nose or cup size to more extreme ones that give them a completely different look.
But what is the newest form of reconstructive surgery? New eyeballs!
Yes, that’s right, a new set of eyes. Well maybe not an entire eyeball, but stars are now beginning to permanently change the color of their eyes through a new method called, Brightocular.
Brightocular is a medical procedure that places silicone implants into the anterior chamber of a person’s eyeball for either cosmetic or sometimes medical reasons. Brightocular permanently alters the color of the person’s eyeball, and is an alternative to colored contacts.
Mother, former R&B singer and wife of hip hop star T.I., Tameka “Tiny” Cottle, recently admitted to changing her eye color to ice grey through Brightocular.
The star took to Instagram to announce her change, “I permanently changed my eye color with Brightocular and lovin it!!” Cottle wrote.
Cottle also admitted that this has been a lifelong dream of hers.
Despite Tiny’s excitement, she has been receiving a plethora of backlash from fans and other stars alike after her life changing decision. Talk show host, Wendy Williams, publicly expressed her disapproval of Tiny’s eye change on her talk show, comparing it to skin bleaching.
Fans and other critics, much like Williams, even went on to say that Tiny’s drastic image change is a result of self hate.
A doctor in an African country, Dr. Menif Montasser, performed the surgery. This type of surgery has been said to have brought in $8 million.
Despite her many critics, Tiny is happy and loving her new eyes. When talking to ABC, she explained the procedure and went on to express how pleased she is with her decision. She also expressed feelings that, ultimately it is her body, her money and her business to decide what she does with the both of them.
