(Gainesville, Ga.) – If you’re a lady, chances are you shed a little tear when you heard that Hollywood hunk Joseph Gordon-Levitt got hitched. You probably cringe with jealousy at the thought of the new bride who is most likely a super model for a living. However, your assumptions are only 50% correct.
This woman is, in fact, drop dead gorgeous. But like the old saying goes… it’s what’s inside that matters.
Let me introduce to you, Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s bride: Tasha McCauley. The two got married at a small private ceremony in Dec. 2014. According to People, she is a world traveler, including to Antarctica and Cuba. McCauley also speaks three languages– Spanish, English and Arabic. She graduated from Bard College with a bachelor of arts and from the University of Southern California with a masters.
The most impressive part of all of this? McCauley is no actress or model but a CEO of a robotics company, Fellow Robots, based at a NASA Research Park in Silicon Valley, California.
In case you didn’t know, out of the Standard & Poor’s 500 companies– an American stock market index of 500 large companies, such as Pepsi, Yahoo and General Motors– only 23 women hold CEO positions. That is a not-so-whopping 4.6% of America’s 500 largest companies.
Fellow Robots may not be an S&P 500 company, but McCauley accomplishing this high CEO status as a woman is remarkable nonetheless.
As if you weren’t already impressed with her enough, check out this clip of McCauley discussing the power of exponential technologies. Her public speaking is mesmerizing.
It is safe to say that Gordon-Levitt hit the jackpot: beauty and brains.
The true jackpot here is McCauley’s potential… her potential to inspire women.
The not-so-famous, everyday girl is bombarded with images of beautiful, photoshopped models and their model/actor/musician male counterparts. These “normal” girls, then, begin to believe their worth is only skin deep. They feel pressured to improve the way they look and lose focus on what matters: intelligence and individuality.
McCauley helps us remember what does matter.
It is only so often that a celebrity dates (and marries) a non-celebrity for qualities beyond their outward appearance. While McCauley was blessed with both inward and outward beauty, her inward beauty– her intelligence– is what has stood out to not only Gordon-Levitt but the media as well.
Whether she were married to Gordon-Levitt or not, McCauley is a reminder to women everywhere that looks aren’t everything.
