(Gainesville, Ga.) – The 14th annual John Jarrard concert was held on Saturday, September 12th on the front lawn of Brenau University. This year the concert brought over 1,200 on Brenau’s campus all for the love of music. Before the main songwriters performed, several local songwriters- including but not limited to Shane Bridges, Dave Desmelik, Steve Shehane, and Nate Kenyon – opened up the show. The concert featured five of Nashville’s most well-known singer-songwriters, including Jeff Stevens, Marc Beeson, Jason Sellers, Wendell Mobley and Bonnie Bishop. The songs that they performed were recognizable, but the talent that they possessed was just now being discovered. This concert shined a light on these artists. Some of the songs performed were recorded by Luke Bryan, Billy Currington, Jason Aldean, Bonnie Raitt, Alabama, and George Strait. This year twenty-one number one hits were performed as the stories behind them were unfolded.
During the concert Philip Wilheit hosted an auction raising up to $2,000 for the highest bidding items. Some of the items featured included concert tickets, an all expenses paid trip to Nashville, autographed guitars, and University of Georgia football tickets. All of the proceeds from the night will be donated to charities around the Gainesville community, such as the Good News at Noon, Challenged Child, and Boys and Girls Club of Hall County.
