On Oct. 29, Grrrl PowHer Hour brought the Women’s College together for an hour of inspiration and encouragement. In the midst of the stress that comes around this time of year due to midterms, this convocation served as motivation for Brenau women. The hour was full of school spirit and energy from the drumline, Tau Sigma and vocal performances from the Vocal Chamber Ensemble. The program was ended by the dynamic guest speaker Lindsey Nelson.

As a freshman, I didn’t know what to expect from an informal convocation. I can now say it was uplifting and fun. I felt pumped hearing the drumline. It goes to show the variety of talents within the school. The dance performance by Tau Sigma came in at just the right moment to energize us. It was certainly my favorite performance. The vocal performances were classy and elegant. I don’t think the Brenau Ideal has ever sounded so harmonizing and beautiful.

I would like to send a huge thank you to Lindsey Nelson. She motivated me to continue working towards my dreams. The massive foundation starts now. With us being in college we’ve already taken a large step towards our goals.

The only suggestion I have is that I would’ve loved to see more audience interaction. Whether it’s a hands on activity or something that allows us to get up and out of our seats. I enjoyed looking around and seeing the amount of girls wearing pink and purple to support of Breast Cancer and Domestic Violence Awareness. It produced a sense of security and love.

At Brenau, your conflict is my conflict. Your happiness is my happiness. This is what I love about attending Brenau. I couldn’t feel more proud to be a student at such a school as this. Witnessing how much we value sisterhood and how we as women empower each other is truly overwhelming. I love seeing different sororities, clubs, organizations and majors all come together as one. I am looking forward to next year’s informal convocation!
