“Nestled off the Square of Gainesville, GA is a private women’s college just over 140 years old
that has stolen my heart in less than two years. The minute you arrive on the historic campus you
see front campus, one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. The buildings are filled with
rich character, history and tradition. Along the walls of the buildings you find old photographs
and old posters for theater productions that make you think about the past and realize you are
carrying on the traditions that have been done for over 100 years on this campus. From May Day
to RATT Week it is something that wasn’t just started. It is something that has grown with
Brenau, though curriculum, presidents and students have changed the traditions that Brenau
carries forward will not. I speak with many alumna who gush about these very things and
hearing that I can relate to what they remember and did on campus is one of the neatest things. I
love Brenau because of these things. The things that you can’t really get anywhere else.
Brenau is completely unique. Offering college level athletics and sororities at a school where
professors actually care about the students, it’s not what you see every day. We may be a
women’s college but that is something else that I love. It is hard to explain why, but the sense of
unity I have is so strong. I have never met anyone at Brenau who hasn’t been supportive of
anything anyone tries to do. The Women’s College is an amazing thing that you really have to
experience to understand. I guess you could say “it’s a Brenau thing,” and that is really why I
love Brenau.”
