Sisters Unite at Brenau: NPHC Week

March 15, 2016 By Brenau Student Leave a Comment

(Gainesville, GA) From March 7-12 Brenau held its annual National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) week. Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. joined together to host a series of events for the women of Brenau. The events took place in hopes of tearing down the stereotypes about women not being able to work together for a good cause. Donations were collected at every event for Habitat for Humanity, in which students could donate their spare change to help build homes for citizens.

On Monday, March 7th they held an Industry Professional session in Disque at the Burd Center. Guest speaker Deborah Gonzalez spoke on pushing through obstacles to make your career a dream come true, and how networking is important to reach those goals. Students were able to ask questions, and receive great advice for their future career.

On Wednesday, March 9th, the “What is a Sister?” discussion was held also in Disque. At this event women got to discuss what their definition of a sister is, and how the sisters they have made at Brenau have impacted their lives.

On Friday, March 11th, a Block Party was held in the gym to wrap up the week. Students  were able to enjoy great music and snacks. It was a great way to kick start everyone’s weekend. All of these events helped make NPHC week great for Brenau women to enjoy and unite.
