(Gainesville, GA) As we get closer to telling our Brenau seniors farewell, we interviewed Jasmine Williams on her experience at Brenau and what she will miss the most. Being on the basketball team, she experienced two sides of the college life: as a student and an athlete.

How was your last year playing at Brenau?

“This year was pretty awesome! We had our ups and downs definitely, but we fought through some major walls, finished the season strong and made it to conference. Although it didn’t quite end like we planned (winning conference) the journey was incredible.”

Which year was your best experience playing basketball at Brenau?

“This year was my favorite year, hands down. I’ve dealt with injuries my entire career, and this was the first full healthy year. It was the first year I was able to make an impact ON and off the court and we went to conference for the first time in school history. You can’t beat that!”

What do you plan to do once you graduate?

“I have no idea what I am doing after graduation (laughs). I want to eventually host tournaments and basketball clinics for basketball. My life goal is to [help] kids use basketball as a tool to reach their goals just [as] I have. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to do that (giggles).”

What was your most memorable moment at Brenau?

“My most memorable moment would be signing to come Brenau with my sister. I wasn’t sure I would have the opportunity to play again. I definitely didn’t think I would play with my sister again, so this has really been a blessing.”

“I will miss the people; the teachers, the students, the cafeteria workers, the cleaning ladies. Everyone has been so warm and sweet. It can be challenging to find genuine people in this world, so to be surrounded by them every day has [been] a blessing. Basketball wise I am going to miss the competition, the camaraderie, my folks coming to the games. It has been a big part of my life, so I [will] miss everything about it……BUT CONDITIONING (laughs).”

What do you think your classmates would label you as?

“Probably most likely to lead. I am a leader by nature.”
