Brenau Junior Dominique Patrick Interns with Athlete Network

I am currently interning with Athlete Network, and my eyes have been opened to a new social media site that can benefit me in more ways than getting the most likes. Athlete Network is designed to help current and previous athletes find jobs, internships and apply for grad school all in one location.

Why is it so hard for college graduates to get jobs? It is because the online recruiting industry is broken. With the average response rate to job seekers applying to jobs at 14%, the frustration on both sides continues to mount. However, there is a solution – affinity networks – focusing on a certain demographic to meet their goals. In our case, Athlete Network helps athletes get connected to employers who value their competitiveness, discipline and other valuable traits. Our network streamlines the communication process for our athletes, producing an average response rate of 84%. Affinity networks create a natural filtration for all parties involved, reducing the noise and clutter of the internet and ultimately accelerating the goals of their members. – Chris Smith, CEO of Athlete Network

We take special pride in The Alchemist. The student ran newspaper was the first publication distributed on the campus of Brenau University. The Alchemist went viral in Fall 2006. It has been over 100 years since the first article was printed, and has since evolved into the prominent platform for students to leave a legacy through their writing.
