Midnight Breakfast Serves Brenau Students Into Finals Week

December 5, 2016 By Brenau Student Leave a Comment

img_1862(Gainesville, Ga.) Every semester at Brenau, students have the privilege of dining at midnight breakfast the week prior to finals. For many, midnight breakfast serves as a favorite pastime tradition. What college student doesn’t love eating breakfast for dinner?

Members of staff including the Athletic Director, the Dean of Students and the Vice President of Student Services served breakfast in the Hopkins Dining Hall from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. During these hours, students show up to eat breakfast, dance and compete for raffle prizes. This year’s biggest giveaway was a printer. Other prizes included food vouchers, fuzzy blankets, fashionable hats and much more. When prizes weren’t being awarded, the floor was filled with dancing students and faculty.

At this year’s event, breakfast included eggs, bacon, grits, hash browns and pancakes. In addition to this, coffee and hot beverages were available for the students too. After the eating, comes the dancing. Students get out of their seats and all come together to flaunt what they’ve got. If you’re competitive, then being on the dance floor gets a little heated to say the least.

On arrival to midnight breakfast in the fall, students are able to pick out an ornament (or design one) and hang it on the Christmas tree, before entering the dining hall. Prizes can be won at the door by picking a gift out of the bag and candy is usually available too. This year, students were given a free pair of socks, some being louder in color than others. Students will often turn up in pajamas and will participate in the singing and dancing activities that endure throughout the night.
