Now that we are in the final month of this Spring semester, we have 21 days left. We have 21 days left for tests, projects, homework, and time commitments to organizations. What if we don’t have the time to give? As all these major things start to pile up, here are 7 tips for the last few weeks to destress and make it through.
- Eat, Sleep, and Repeat!
As a college student, sleep is an unknown concept, like what is sleep? Eating and sleeping are very important to keep your body moving. Between the ages of 18 to 22, the normal amount of sleep a person should get is about 6 – 8 hours. But most college students get maybe a couple hours of sleep. Try to make time to sleep; I know it sounds crazy to schedule a time to sleep, but your body needs proper rest to function, so put your body first.
Eating is probably the second foreign concept to college students. Food is what gives your body fuel to have the energy to accomplish everything you need to do. I know with having the dining hall, BU doesn’t always have very appealing options, but there is always the Tea Room. But, try not to fill up on caffeine to pull those all-nighters, try healthier options like a granola bar or an apple, that give your body the extra fuel it needs.
2. Time Management
Time management is key, especially at Brenau. Using a planner or a calendar of some kind is very useful. With everything we as students take on, such as clubs/organizations, homework/projects/test, trying to have a social life, etc. a planner is a good way to keep everything in check and have the last seven weeks go smoothly as we approach the end of the semester.
3. Find your happy place
Find your happy place. Whether it is reading a good book, coloring, or yoga etc., keep the fun things in your life to destress. When you are stressed out it may be easy to set aside the things that make you happy, so that you can meet deadlines. Don’t forget to make time for yourself, it will help you destress and have a better outlook on the work ahead.
4. Support System
Brenau is your home and support system. Whether it is hanging out with your hallmates/sorority sisters/teammates, or going to a SAB event, Brenau is a place where women lift each other up, so don’t be afraid to ask for help, or to talk to someone.
Also, don’t forget your resources, Brenau is here to help you just might have to seek out those resources. Such as if you are getting sick, head to the nurse, need help with that final paper head to the writing center. Don’t forget about all the valuable resources Brenau offers, it will make these next few weeks a whole lot easier.
5. Don’t Stress
This is probably the biggest cliche but, everything happens for a reason. How a person handles a situation is what truly matters. So think about the good in your life and keep putting the good in to get the good out.
6. Your professors are there to help
Your professors are there to help. Even though they assign us millions of projects and assignments, they really do want us to exceed. So don’t be afraid to reach out if you are struggling with an assignment or didn’t come to class because you were sick, they will definitely work with you. As the student, you have to be willing to meet them half away.
7. There is light at the end of tunnel; Goal setting
We are at that point the semester, where we can see a little glimmer of light, of hope to make it through the rest of the semester. There are big milestones ahead for all students at Brenau, such as Class Day/May Day, and of course for our seniors, Graduation. At the end of the tunnel, is a whole world waiting for you, 21 days until you’re one step closer to the full life ahead of you.
