Being a college Senior is exciting, fun and also the worst. You have much freedom, you’re at the top of the food chain, the world is literally your oyster. Then you stop and think… “OMG, the world is my oyster. What am I actually going to do with my life?!” Cue the panic attacks ladies, cause it’s time to get real!
Nothing beats demanding the Senior Song all the time, sunbathing on the top of the Crow’s Nest, celebrating 100 Days Out at El Som, and all of the other fun memories along the way. This is our time to live it up. This is the last time in our lives that we are able to stay up as late as we want and do whatever we want with virtually no consequences. Everyone wants to celebrate YOU! It’s the best feeling.
But also, everyone wants to question you. If I had a dollar for every time I have been asked, “ What are you doing after graduation?” I would be able to not even have to look for a job! But don’t even get me started on looking for a job. That is undeniably the most stressful part of being a senior…unless of course you have to turn in a thesis! Between job searching and working on a thesis, don’t forget to schedule in some time for you to cry. Because trust me, there are lots of tears involved with being a senior. I definitely think senior hormones are a thing. I can go from laughing and being so happy and having fun, to literally crying my eyes out at Cotillion in front of everyone because I just am not ready to leave this place.
Being a senior is definitely one of the most stressful times, but is more than rewarding. To quote Amanda Lammers, “Ships are safe in their harbors – but that is not what they are built for.” So here’s to us, the Brenau University Class of 2017, and here is to finding out what we are built for.
