Tuesday, Sept. 19, Brenau’s volleyball team won their first AAC win against Columbia College located in South Carolina. The volleyball team worked together in defeating Columbia in three sets. Statistics show freshman, Karlee Moss, led the Golden Tigers’ attack with a season-high 18 kills for a .297 hitting percentage, while sophomore setter, Savannah Wilbanks tallied 36 assists and eight digs to help the team get to a 25-17, 25-19, 25-18 victory. The Golden Tigers earned a .245 hitting percentage, while holding the host Koalas to a -0.24 percentage.

The Brenau Golden Tigers showed significant growth in a short period of time with a plethora of new players. The 2017 Fall class holds nine freshmen.

Sophomore Patience Thurmond said, “It felt amazing to win our first conference game of the season. Playing with my teammates this last week really has inspired us because the freshmen have stepped up and contributed so much to this team.” The Golden Tigers still have the remainder of the regular season to finish before conference rounds start up. Brenau, who is 2-9 overall and 1-0 in the AAC, will travel to Bluefield (Va.) College on Friday for a 6:30 pm match.
