Brenau Welcomes LGBT Club

October 26, 2017 By Keiara Lyons Leave a Comment

Brenau formally welcomed a club that introduces diversity, movement, support and love. The Identity club focuses on the issues of gender and sexual identity. This club accepts all sexualities, all sexes, all cultures and etc. when students are need of someone to talk to.

Identity’s first meeting was held this past Tuesday, which discussed what “Identity” is, new officer positions, and “coming out truly as you are!” Your identity is who you are, and what makes “you”, you! No matter what your sexual preference is, you will always be you and no one can ever take that away.

Since the Identity Club is a fresh addition to campus, new officer positions were picked, not randomly, but selected by peers. The best part about this club, is that no matter how high or low your position is, everyone is equally important and everyone has a voice. The new officer positions are below, congratulate them when you see them:

President- Elizabeth Summerall

Vice President- Adrianna Rivera- Velazquez

Public Relations Director- Hope Vigil-Shuck

Secretary- Nicole Mill

Treasurer- Devin Smith

We take special pride in The Alchemist. The student ran newspaper was the first publication distributed on the campus of Brenau University. The Alchemist went viral in Fall 2006. It has been over 100 years since the first article was printed, and has since evolved into the prominent platform for students to leave a legacy through their writing.
