The Women’s College of Brenau University all gathered on Thursday to listen to the words of Rachel McGowan. McGowan’s speech focused on the topic of empathy and using empathy as a tool to connect us with other people. We can also us empathy to overcome the feeling of division and feeling isolated from the outside world.

“Because the world is not yet equal for women, it is important for  us as students of a  Women’s College to demonstrate unity, respect and empathy,” said the speaker. McGowan  hit on the point of ‘me too’, a statement that can make any person feel less alone, when you are going something in your life that you may think only you have gone through.

McGowan’s speech touched many in the audience. Women chose to attend  Brenau University for this exact reason:  the unity among the women who go there.

Grrrl PowHER also showcased the idea that we are women and we can do anything that we put our minds to. It is our job as sisters to uplift and empower each other. Grrrl Power Hour embodied this clearly for all to see.

Thursday was such a great moment for all the students of the Women’s campus to all come together and celebrate the strength found in numbers when women stand together. McGowan stated, “ We aren’t “cute”, we are strong, unstoppable, and united.”
