Looking for a fresh new location for your Tex-Mex cravings? Surcheros Fresh Mex on 2187 Limestone Parkway, right next to Gainesville’s newest Publix might be your new favorite spot.
Surcheros opened their doors to customers on Dec.12 at 10:30 a.m. after a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The first 100 customers were able to receive free burritos for a year.
“We love to get excitement around the opening and and give back to the community as one of our part of our mission, or our core purpose,” Luke Christian, CEO of Surcheros Fresh Mex said.
The restaurant serves freshly made tacos, burritos, nachos, quesadillas, salads and a unique meals for children. The menu also includes over 25 different toppings and sauces to spice up your meal. When asked what his go-to order, CEO Luke Christian said the nachos are his favorite. However, that all depends on if he is dining in or taking it to go.
“The burrito and the bowl travels better, so I like to eat it out a lot because I’m at the office working,” he said.
The restaurant is the brainchild of Christian who had the idea of bringing together the delicious flavors and Southern hospitality after working in the restaurant industry.
“They didn’t believe that the market could support a fast casual, build your own Tex Mex concept, but I thought differently. So I started my own. I listened to my guests on what they liked and what they didn’t like about the concept, and then I started blending some things and adding some things, and that’s a couple of our differentiators,” Christian said.
Surcheros is not only about delivering delicious meals. Christian said he wants to help the community, by not only providing a safe environment for gatherings but also to uplift the younger generation.
“My desire with this company is to find young people that don’t know what they want to do in life and help develop them into something. I didn’t know I wanted to be in the restaurant industry. It fell in my lap. I was good at it. I liked the people. And look what came out of it. I’ve had people that started with me as dishwashers just trying to pay their weekly bills, and now they’re vice presidents and doing fantastic,” he said.
