Ever since the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise began in 2003, it has never left movie goers disappointed until now. Due to the recent failure of “The Lone Ranger,” it has Disney pushing back the release date of the fifth installment of the Pirates series. “The Lone Ranger” is being considered one of 2013‘s biggest flops. Unlike the “The Lone Ranger”, the Pirates franchise has collectively taken in close to $4 billion dollars.
Set to be released in the summer of 2015, the movie has reportedly been push back until 2016 and are even reluctant of starting production at all. Not all are agreeing with this decisions. Fans of the films are not happy about this because they claim that the two characters that Depp plays in ‘Pirates’ and “The Lone Ranger’ are completely different.
Another factor playing into the push back is the fact that 2015 is predicted to be a big one for the box office. Disney’s Star Wars: Episode VII, Man of Steel Sequel, The Avengers and even Pixar are set to release a new movie. Though they are cautious about the upcoming release, they are still confident that the movie will do well. The previous movies have always been very successful in the box office.
