(Gainesville, Ga.) The Brenau Golden Tigers basketball team beat the Brewton-Parker Barons with the score of 68-58 Thursday night at Brewton-Parker.
After two home conference losses to Martin Methodist and Bethel Universities, the Golden Tigers traveled to play the Barons who did not win any game this season.
The game started with the quick lead 7-0 for the Golden Tigers, but the Barons fought back and cut the difference.
However, with the appearing of a sophomore Claire Zimmerman from Woodstock, Ga., the Golden Tigers got the ten point lead, thanks to Zimmerman’s accurate three pointers, and remained this advantage until the end of the first half 38-28.
In the second period, the Barons came strong and cut the difference to four points, but the Golden Tigers got back to the ten point difference at the end of the game making the final score 68-58.
“Getting road conference wins are important and even though we had some players out tonight, we had some other players step up and contribute,” said Kris Stewart, the head coach for the Golden Tigers.
Jasmine Butler, a junior from Gainesville, Ga., led the Golden Tigers with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Zimmerman added 12 points. A junior Antonise Harper from Macon, Ga., led the Barons with 19 points and four rebounds.
After this game, the Golden Tigers have an overall record of 7-7 and the record of 3-4 in the conference.
