(Gainesville, Ga.)Now that the Sochi Olympic winter games have come to a close a few weeks ago, it is now time to start the Paralympic winter games.  The Paralympics are exactly like the Olympics, accept they are for people with physical disabilities.  These athletes compete with other people from around the world who also have disabilities.  This year’s Paralympics will start with the opening ceremony on Friday March 7, 2014 and will go through Sunday March 16, 2014.  The events that will be taking place in this year are: Alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, ice sledge hockey, and wheelchair curling.

Just because these athletes might have a physical differentiation than others, does not take away how great of athletes they are.  These athletes hold some of the greatest records and have to endure great challenges. There are 45 countries being represented in this year Paralympic games.  Much respect can be given to these athletes who work very hard to compete with some of the worlds greatest athletes.
