(Gainesville, Ga.)- Brenau University’s volleyball team welcomed a new head coach to the team in March of 2014, after their previous head coach transferred to Birmingham Southern back in December. It was a tough three months as the team had to start post- season alone. They worked together as one unit to schedule workouts and practices until head coach, Mike Carter was added to the team.
Carter, the co-founder of the local ProLink Atlanta Volleyball Club, got right to work the day he was given the job. The team started practices and dove right in. Senior, Lindsay Kelley was very excited for Carter to be the new head coach. She stated, “I am so glad Coach Mike is here with us! After being on his club teams as a kid to coaching at ProLink, I have always loved his style of coaching and how he sees the game. I know he will make us better as individuals and a team.”
Bailey Hicks, the junior setter for the Tigers shared with us her feeling on how the season has been going so far. Hicks stated, “At first, I wasn’t sure how the team was going to look. What I did know was that we were going to improve so much just by coach breaking things down for us. That is exactly what is happening. We are bettering the ball, working on the process, and getting better everyday.”
The Golden Tiger’s season kicked off with a scrimmage against Oglethorpe, August 26, and the regular season began September 2 versus Agnes Scott College. They are excited to start the season and improve in their conference play.
