(Gainesville, Ga.)- This weekend was packed with sporting events to attend. The volleyball team was ranked 4th in the preseason polls for their conference. The soccer team was ranked 17th in the NAIA coaches preseason poll.

Michael Carter is the new head coach for the Golden Tigers volleyball team and is expecting to take the team to the next level. The team had a promising start to their season. At the Mariner Invitational last weekend, the Golden Tigers went 2-2. Then the team came out on top of Agnes Scott College on Wednesday.

The soccer team opened the season with a 1-1-1 record. This past Sunday, they took on Thomas University and swept them in a 3-0 game. With a long stretch of home games coming up for the Golden Tigers, a strong start to the season looks promising.

The volleyball team started the weekend of events playing the College of Coastal Georgia. CCG was ranked 1st in the preseason polls, but the Golden Tigers had the advantage of playing at home where their fans could help them out. The game started with a decently close loss in the first set. But the Golden Tigers flipped it around by winning the second set, and tying the match. Brenau fell to CCG once again in the third set. Brenau was not out of this game yet though. In the fourth set, Brenau battled with CCG. They fought through the whole game and came back to win the fourth set to win 27-25. The crowd was the loudest after that set. Unfortunately, CCG came back to win the game in the fifth set. The Golden Tigers fought a very hard game.

The volleyball team finished the weekend with a win against Brewton Parker College. This was the Golden Tiger’s first conference win sweeping the Barons in three sets.

The soccer team plays Montreat College Saturday evening at 7. Montreat was ranked 2nd in their conference.

The Golden Tigers will face the Cavaliers at home.
