(Gainesville, Ga.) – NBC’s highly popular singing competition series, “The Voice,” returns Sept. 22 for its seventh season. Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will return as coaches, while Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani will join them for the first time. The four acclaimed artists will form their teams of 12 contestants to compete for the next two months, until the audience must vote for the winner.
Vocalists from across the country will begin their journeys in the competition with a Blind Audition, where the celebrity coaches will be able to hear them, but will not be able to see them. If the coaches are impressed, they can choose to rotate their chairs to face the artist. Then it will be up to the contestant to choose his or her coach.
Imagine how an aspiring music artist must feel to have established stars like Williams and Stefani show their appreciation for their talent. Even more, imagine that artist being given the decision to choose one or the other to mentor them to stardom.
Last week, contestants who participated in the Blind Auditions announced that their performances would be airing Sept. 22.
Among those contestants is a local musician, Clara Hong, 22, from Atlanta. Hong attended Mill Creek High School, graduating in 2011.
For the past three years, she has performed in coffee shops and bars across north Georgia. Now, her family and friends will be able to watch her take the next step in her journey, auditioning before Levine, Shelton, Stefani and Williams.
Hong can be seen in a promotional TV spot for “The Voice,” interacting with Williams after her audition.
Old and new viewers alike have much to look forward to on this season of “The Voice.” Williams and Stefani will bring a fresh outlook on the art of performing, helping hopeful talents grow, to mix with the already winning formula of Levine and Shelton’s chemistry. And most importantly, they can watch as aspiring musicians like Hong audition for the chance of a lifetime.
