On October 9, 2014, the Brenau University Volleyball team hosted the annual “Dig Pink Game” to raise money for the Sideout Foundation that raises money for breast cancer research.
To get the student body more involved, the team had activities for the spectators. Every timeout, music was played to keep the crowd pumped, and free breast cancer awareness items were given away like buttons, face tattoos and small pink volleyballs.
The Sideout Foundation is a nation-wide company that raises awareness and money for breast cancer research. It takes place in the fall, primarily during Oct. (Breast Cancer Awareness Month). Students from all over the country (and some overseas) host events to promote breast health/cancer awareness and to raise money for the research and patient support projects that Side-Out funds. In addition to raising money for breast cancer research and educating peers and neighbors, the goal of the Dig Pink Rally is to bring together entire communities.
