In his first year as head coach, Nathan Rhoads seems to be leading the girls in the right direction. This year the team is more diverse including athletes from Spain and Australia. The Golden Tigers are showing optimism and assurance in themselves.
After interviewing Alisha Hodgetts, a sophomore captain, here is what she had to say:
As a swim team athlete, what are your priorities?
“Our main priorities are to exceed our best in our studies and then focus on improving our swimming performance every day at the pool. We strive to continue to work together as a team to build a sense of community.”
As one of the captains, what is your motto for improvement?
“I’ve always lived by #UNSTOPPABLE. Nothing can come between my passion and my performance. This motto drives me to succeed in everything. This can be reflected in our team as well. Every day we find ways to help each other become better student athletes.”
Can you give some insight on the team’s recent win?
“We brought our determination to the pool as we were defending champions at the Converse Invitational. All I can say is the hard work is already paying off. With the help of Coach Nate, our teammates have grown with the key ideals to success in the pool as these ideals are helping us develop our better/more efficient specific races.”
What impact has being part of Brenau’s swim team made on you?
“Personally, it’s helped me learn more about leadership and what a team is all about. The swim team grows all of our communication skills which later on in life we will all need for our future occupations. Due to the high commitment of the sport, it helps us ladies develop better time management in and out of the pool.”
