Brenau Basketball Wins Over Conference Rival

February 1, 2016 By Brenau Student Leave a Comment

(Gainesville, Ga)  With a packed house full of faculty, staff, students and fans, the Brenau University Varsity Basketball Golden Tigers defeated the College of Coastal Georgia Mariners after being down at the half.

The first half was not the best for the Golden Tigers. Two three pointers put up by the Golden Tigers’ Briah Woods and Claire Zimmerman built a lead that was quickly taken away by the Mariners for a 24-19 deficit at the half.

The third quarter was neck and neck for both teams with neither team taking a full lead. The Mariners led 32-31 at the end of the third.

The fourth quarter was a complete turnaround for the Golden Tigers whose defense picked up and led to a 48-41 win over the Mariners.

The game was faculty and staff night, where the stands were filled by familiar faces at Brenau. Door prizes and pizza were given to the faculty and staff in attendance. Ray Tatum, Vice President of Enrollment Management, believes that “it’s great for [faculty and staff] to support the team and see the students out of the class and on the court representing.”

The Golden Tigers will be on the road against Faulkner University on February 3rd for their next time on the court. To stay up to date on all things Golden Tigers visit www.brenautigers.com.
