I know us college students think we are too far gone now, but sometimes you have to let that inner kid out. The Kid’s Choice Awards were on March 12th, and I’m going to give you the recap of it all. Of course there were stars galore in attendance to present and have a good time such as: Amy Poehler, Adam Sandler, Ellen DeGeneres, Anthony Anderson, Zendaya, Megan Fox, Meghan Trainor and Cameron Dallas. The Voice judge, Blake Shelton, hosted the show and opened with a battle with the “Star Wars” stormtroopers. With this beginning skit, we all knew it was going to be a fun and interesting night.

“You all know why this show is so cool?” Blake asked, greeting the crowd. “Because you control everything.” The audience was given more control over this year’s show. They voted for the winners, the set design for the stage and chose which viral Internet star would be slimed. In previous shows, they didn’t have much control of anything.

Ellen DeGeneres presented the first award of the night, favorite animated movie. Adam Sandler for “Hotel Transylvania 2” was the winner. The goofy Sandler walked onto the stage thanking his brother and left the crowd laughing as he mimicked Dracula.

Naturally, DeGeneres must take every opportunity for anything big. She wanted to create a huge moment for all snap chatters out there. “We’re going to create the biggest Snapchat” she said, “I’ll Snapchat you while you Snapchat me.”
Some of the other winners included Zendaya for “K.C. Undercover”; Amy Poehler for “Inside Out”; Jennifer Lawrence for “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2”; “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” for favorite movie; and “The Voice” for favorite talent competition of course.

“I just want you to know that doing and making positive programming for young people is so important to me and I will keep doing it,” said Zendaya as she received her award. “And to all of the parents out there, thank you for letting me be a role model for your children. I really do not take that for granted.”

That was just a few things that happened during the wonderful night. Slime Beware! Of course people were getting slimed randomly as they accepted their awards. The fun loving atmosphere will continue until next year’s Kid Choice Awards.
