(Gainesville, GA.) On Wednesday, March 23, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. (DST) of Brenau University hosted their annual “Speak Owt” event in Disque located in the Burd Center.

Every year Brenau students get the chance to showcase their talents through spoken word, dance and song at this event. This year the performances included spoken word pieces about discrimination and women’s empowerment, a remixed acapella version of Adele’s “Someone Like You”, and encouraging dance performances.

DST Member Amber Curney stated, “The performers we had this year were outstanding, and showcased some great pieces that I think the audience really enjoyed.”

After the performances, past and current DST members gathered together to thank everyone for coming and supporting their event.

Freshman Ayana Daniels stated, “I loved watching every single performance and I think everyone did a beautiful job tonight.”

This event was definitely one to remember. For more information about upcoming DST events, check your Brenau email for the This Week At Brenau newsletter.
