(Gainesville, Ga) On Thursday, Oct. 27 Brenau University had its third annual Grrrl Power Hour informal convocation in Pearce Auditorium. Students were encouraged to wear pink or purple in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The keynote speaker was Stefanie Diaz Sheehan, a Women’s College alumna). Sheehan returned to share her life experience, and to encourage current Brenau students to take life by the horns.
Sheehan spoke of how creating her own podcast changed her life.Throughout her presentation, she explained how she never thought someone would care to listen to her voice and how stepping out of the box took her places she never thought she would go.
The program also featured performances from Tau Sigma Dance Fraternity, the Brenau University Step Team and the Brenau Vocal Chamber Ensemble. Each group performed to a songs related to Brazil in honor of International Week.
“It was a great program. I’m sad that because I am a senior it was my last one, but I’m going out with a bang.” stated Women’s College Senior and Brenau Step Team President Nicole Vernon.
