(Gainesville) As some of you might know, I have a show called “The Run Down” on Brenau’s own radio station, 89.1 WBCX Gainesville, Georgia. Are you wondering the reason I chose this name? Well, I give you the “run down” on all of Brenau Sports.
Basketball season kicked off for the lady tigers as they obliterated the Life University Running Eagles 48-81. This season looks promising as the tigers host new transfer students, Jasmine Knight and Shymane Callahan and freshman. Though it is still early, the team works well together.
The volleyball team is having a tough year with up and down games—splitting conference games throughout the season. This week they managed to get a win over Brewton Parker. After this game, the team headed to Coastal Georgia and lost 3-0 to the Mariners.
As for the soccer team, they lost in the first round of the SSAC Opening Round to William Carey University 4-0 on the road. A short ending to the season but the ladies had a great run!
The Swim Team had a successful weekend Brenau Golf takes Fourth at the SSAC Fall Preview. Placing 2nd this past weekend at the UNC Asheville Invitational and the cross country team ended up 5th of 9 in the 2016 SSAC Championships. Well, that’s it for this weeks run down. Be sure to tune in on Brenau’s 89.1 WBCX Gainesville to listen to me daily!
Jay AndrewsDirector of Broadcasting & Digital Communications says
What Dominique Patrick hasn’t mentioned is how ‘The Rundown’ was created. She wrote the idea for a WBCX sports vignette, named it and presented it to me. I liked the excellent research and writing for it so much I asked Dominique to begin recording the sports short immediately.
The Rundown has aired hourly on 89.1 WBCX at :20 past the hour Monday through Friday since September 2015.
Great work Dominique!
